Like its predecessor, the all-new Kindle Paperwhite is also waterproof. You'll see a performance boost with a 20% faster processor as well. Not that you'll have to charge that often, since the bigger battery should last you around 10 weeks. It only takes around 2.5 hours to charge the Kindle Paperwhite completely. It adopts the USB-C connector of the base-model Kindle, giving you the ability to fast-charge your device to around 25% in 15 minutes. It has either 8 GB of storage for the base model or 32 GB for the Signature Edition. The Signature Edition adds an auto-adjusting front light and Qi wireless charging. ![]() It's the same size and form factor as the previous Kindle Paperwhite, shrinking the bezels around the edges of the tablet to accommodate the larger screen. The all-new Kindle Paperwhite has a (relatively) huge 6.8-inch screen (up from 6 inches), an absolutely gorgeous 300 ppi (pixels-per-inch) display, and an adjustable light with warmth setting (so that reading in the dark is easier on your eyes). But then if you kill one of the stunned enemies, all the survivors will get stunned again. And Overkill means that almost every enemy you kill will stun all nearby enemies for a short while. On the harder difficulties, Return to Sender is vital for certain enemy encounters, especially motorized Patriots. You can upgrade it to absorb ammunition, adding to your own. This Vigor creates and holds a shield that blocks incoming projectiles and then fire them back at your enemies. This means if you gun down five enemies who are currently being attacked by the crows, you’ll get five free crow landmines.Īs you can imagine, this creates a very potent chain reaction where entire waves of enemies can get caught in the traps created by their fallen comrades while you use them as target practice. The damage is small, and the stun starts off short, however, when after you have fully upgraded Murder of Crows, any enemies killed by the crows will become Murder of Crows traps. Murder of Crows sends out a wave of crows to stun and damage enemies. Shock Jockey is a good alternative later on, but with the Overkill gear, it’s slightly redundant. Some enemies are immune to fire attacks, but for the most part, you can lob Devil’s Kiss into crowds for notable amounts of damage. Sometimes it’s best to take a turret out first by turning it against its own people, who will then eventually shoot it down for you.Īlso, dropping a Possession trap will affect multiple human enemies, but since you can only ever possess a single target at a time, all but one of them will immediately kill themselves.ĭevil’s Kiss is the first offensive Vigor you get, but it’s useful for pretty much the entire game. Possessed humans will eventually kill themselves when the Vigor wears off, but turrets will return to their hostile state. Note that Possession doesn’t last forever. Converting them not only means you won’t be attacked but that you’ll also have a powerful ally to help in the ensuing gun battle. These gun emplacements can cut you down quite easily, especially when you’re trying to fend off a dozen other attacks. No matter what your playstyle or difficulty level, you’ll want to use Possession early and often to take control of enemy turrets. I’ve never actually killed Elizabeth and don’t know if you can, but if you happen to find yourself in the company of other NPCs and are constantly stunning them with Overkill or unintentionally dealing damage with your traps, they will definitely turn on you. Note that Vigors (like the Murder of Crows) can harm allies. Then you can spam Vigors like crazy, and thanks to the Blood to Salt gear (see below), your Salts will automatically replenish. They require Salts to use, so I recommend upgrading your salt capacity to 10 before wasting any upgrades on your health or shields. Vigors are BioShock Infinite’s version of Plasmids. Take the time to look around and do the side missions to find the secret areas or open the safes and treasure chests. There was a time when the 120mm-travel 32 Float would have been a sign of excellence, but since the introduction of the CTD damper in 2012, Fox forks no longer carry the same cachet. It’s not just the frame design that’s unique on the Trek it’s the only bike on test to sport a Fox fork. So your first upgrade will definitely be a dropper post, and Trek provides Stealth routing to make it possible if that’s the way you want to go. There is one downside to the flattened seat tube design, though: you can’t drop the saddle more than an inch or two. Was it worth all the hassle? Well, it certainly looks amazing and the 442mm chainstays, while not being super-short, are shorter than on most 29ers. The final piece of the puzzle was to flatten the back of the seat tube to make everything fit together. This, in turn, has allowed the rear wheel to be tucked in nice and tight to the BB without scrimping on tyre clearance. Keeping the chainstay length in check was a priority for Trek when developing the Stache and, by switching to the stiffer bolt-through dropout design, the engineers have been able to retain the desired frame stiffness for tracking and power delivery while ditching the seat and chainstay bridges. The frame shares most design features you find on Trek’s full-suspension trail bikes, including a tapered head tube, ISCG tabs on the BB for fitting a chain device and 142x12mm rear dropouts the last of those isn’t commonly found on a hardtail - all of the other bikes on test this month have regular QR rear dropouts. First introduced last season, the Stache is billed as a trail-ready 29er hardtail designed to meet all the exacting demands of the modern mountain biker. ![]() ![]() ![]() The three wireforms, the flasher holder and the inlane ball guides are all finished in a gold colour to complement the rest of the playfield’s colour scheme. That issue aside, the black line layer appears to be well-aligned with the colour layers – which themselves were free of registration issues – while the clearcoat over the playfield produces an attractive glossy finish. You can see the difference by comparing the yellow inserts with the blue ones leading up to the Merlin saucer, which do have that white layer. The black lettering appears washed out, as though it needs a second pass of black ink, or a white blocking layer is missing. While all the artwork is bright and colourful, the printing on the inserts is less convincing. ![]() Those inserts are our only point of contention with the whole playfield. Playfield inserts are all lit with white LEDs There are even some impressive fading effects as the LEDs flash on and off to mimic the characteristics of real lamps. The inserts are all suitably bright and evenly lit, with their colour coming from the insert plastic rather than a coloured LED beneath. ![]() The playfield is now much more brightly illuminated than before, with a purer white light which manages to maintain some of the warm feel of incandescents without straying into the cold look of cheaper cool white LEDs. On the playfield, the use of LEDs is the most noticeable change. The apron comes with custom instruction and information cards pre-installed either side of the Limited Edition numbered decal. The Limited Edition model with the gold trim package Initial samples of the gold coating turned out more caramel-coloured than gold, but this production version had an attractive metallic matte finish to the lock bar, side rails, legs and leg bolts. Originally just gold and silver were available, but a black finish was added later. So far, so similar, but when the remake was ordered the buyer could choose one of three different trim colours for their game. The cabinet frontĪlthough this is a game destined for Europe it still comes with an American coin door with the coin slots and cut-outs for a dollar bill acceptor. The new game uses LEDs instead of incandescent lamps throughout, including in the start button, launch button and coin slots. The backbox side art is the same on both sides and unchanged from the original game.
